FMA Group Classes

Training in a group class of Filipino martial arts can be a great way to get acquainted with Balintawak. Classes typically focus on physical and mental conditioning, as well as self-defense techniques that are designed to be effective against an armed or unarmed assailant. You can expect to learn drills that range from straight punches and kicks, to jabbing and blocking techniques, joint locks and takedowns. Participants can also explore Balintawak’s wide variety of weapons, such as sticks, knives, and staffs. Through training in a group class, you will gain confidence not just through skills but through camaraderie as well.

Training in a Balintawak style Filipino martial arts class is an incredibly rewarding experience. Balintawak Arnis known as Balintawak Eskrima or Balintawak Kali, is a form of armed and unarmed combat which is unique to the Philippines. The class starts with a warm-up session which combines traditional Balintawak exercises with strength and coordination movements. As the class moves onto drills, sparring and group sessions, participants build confidence in their Balintawak skills. Instructors offer great detail and correction as students progress through the curriculum. Group classes create a fun environment where everyone helps each other; from perfecting techniques to giving support when needed. All levels are welcomed in Balintawak classes, making them ideal for beginners looking to learn this centuries old martial art form.
